Large ACEC Ohio contingent hits Capitol Hill during national convention

A large contingent of ACEC Ohio members journeyed to the nation's capital last week to deliver the industry's position on infrastructure funding, taxes and other key issues to legislators in Ohio's Congressional delegation.

Led by President Greg Heaton (Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc.) and National Director Mark Henderson (LJB Inc.), ACEC Ohio members met with most Ohio legislators or their top staff as part of the national organization's Annual Convention & Legislative Summit.

At a dinner on April 26, ACEC Ohio members hosted Congressmen David Joyce (R-14), Steve Stivers (R-15) and Michael Turner (R-10) and at a breakfast the following morning they hosted Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-9).  On April 27 and 28, they carried the association's message up to The Hill and met with most other members of Ohio's delegation.

To reinforce their message, ACEC Ohio members left behind position papers, developed by the national Council, on transportation, tax reform and funding of water resources projects.

In between their meetings with lawmakers, Ohio's "citizen lobbyists" attended business management sessions and were treated to addresses by guests such as Bob Schieffer, host of the CBS news program "Face the Nation," and former CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden.
