Prairie Cloudware Closes 2014 with a Strong Team, Solid Funding and Simple, Safe Digital Payments

OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 13, 2014 – Prairie Cloudware, an innovator in omnichannel digital payments services, has achieved several key milestones in 2014, including obtaining two rounds of funding, expanding its team with executives as well as integral support and the beta availability of its Digital Payments Guardian™.

In January 2014, Prairie Cloudware announced its Series A round of funding, which it invested in the recruitment of a team of payment veterans with the experience and background necessary to help financial institutions build the next generation of safe digital payments.  Team additions included a chief operating officer; principal architects for IT, security, cloud services and web; product owners; project managers and software engineers. Together, they have more than 300 years of experience in payments, mobile and cloud computing.

Prairie Cloudware announced beta availability of its Digital Payments Guardian in November.  Digital Payments Guardian provides a comprehensive set of digital payment services that allow customers of financial institutions to simply and safely purchase goods and services online and in-stores.  By operating in a SaaS environment using a virtual private cloud, the Digital Payments Guardian lowers the cost of entry and speeds time to market for banks and credit unions interested in extending value-added payment services to consumers.

In December, Prairie Cloudware closed its second round of funding, bringing the total investment to date to more than $5 million.  The company will use this most recent capital to complete its beta testing, continue to expand its secure APIs, and build out its sales and marketing team.

“The industry commentators have called 2014 ‘The Year of the Data Breach’ and that substantiates the motivation that first led us to found Prairie Cloudware,” said Kevin Kammer, CEO of the company. “We believe financial institutions are key to creating and supporting a safe, simple way for their customers to make digital payments.  Consumers have said this repeatedly in surveys.  They trust these organizations – more than any others – to provide these types of services.  Progressive banks and credit unions are now realizing this need and are looking for ways to extend their digital banking channels for easy and secure payments.”

Digital Payments Guardian is a white labeled service that enables customers to centralize sensitive payment information with their financial institution - removing it from devices, retail websites and static cards and keep it safely stored until it’s needed.  During transactions, it validates the identity of the cardholder and delivers payment data in a tokenized format to avoid future fraud.

“Last year was a very important year for us to build the groundwork of a successful company,” Kammer added. “In 2015, we look forward to announcing new clients and channel partnerships that will bring safer and more secure digital payments to market.”
