Parker, Don Interview

1)            What is the “long term” purpose of AFT?

Answer: After a thorough review of the bylaws, I found that the answer to this question is perfectly stated in Article II, Section 1:

The purpose of this organization shall be to provide an opportunity for free interchange of information and ideas; to provide for collective action that is more effective when acting as a group; and, to foster ethical and professional business practices.

Although I’m three years young to the Fintech space, my experience in other fields has taught me that there is a certain “velocity of relationships” that can be achieved when you bring a collaborative group together. It is the ability to move quickly and in a manner that supports the outlined purpose above that is the very essence and long term purpose of AFT.

2)            How does/should AFT membership have a positive impact for the member companies?

Answer:Again, I refer to the AFT website, this time as stated in the Code of Ethics:

To our fellow members we pledge to:

  • Share knowledge and experiences, recognizing the value of interchange to our industry.

  • Recognize that competition is healthy and commit to business practices which will be highly respected by the financial community.

  • Continually research new means for increasing service levels through exploration of new concepts and techniques.

Looking back, I am impressed by the lift that MD has received as a young start-up company through its participation in AFT. It is apparent to me that AFT has remained true to the original design and purpose. In addition, the commitment to members, enhanced by the value that is placed on customers and employees, has remained at the forefront of the vision and direction of the current organization. Let that continue to be true.

3)            How does/should the AFT Board facilitate your stated purpose (1) and positive impact for member companies (2)?

The AFT Board needs to continue to provide opportunities for members to meet and exchange information about the Fintech space through thoughtful planning of meetings, seminars and courses. The Board can also positively impact member companies by providing the AFT membership with the newest insights, guidance in planning, statistical analysis, and legal regulations.

4)            Why are you a good candidate to serve on the AFT Board?

As an individual and citizen I am committed to giving back and paying forward and plan to do more of both in the future. For this reason I have enjoyed working at MX and also my participation in AFT. In addition, my personal desire and ability makes me a commendable candidate to serve on the Board.
