ICBA Testifying Tuesday on Regulatory Burden

ICBA is scheduled to testify next week before a House subcommittee on how to relieve community banks from excessive regulatory burden and government overreach.

Sam Vallandingham, president and CEO of The First State Bank in Barboursville, W.Va., will discuss several proposals, including legislation to take on the Justice Department’s Operation Choke Point. The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. (Eastern time) this Tuesday.

That hearing follows a Tuesday Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations hearing on Operation Choke Point. Additionally, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law is scheduled to meet Thursday on the initiative.

Separately, the Senate Banking Committee’s Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protections is scheduled to meet Wednesday on what makes banks systemically important.
