Fed Releases Semiannual Monetary Policy Report
| Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen presented the semiannual Monetary Policy Report to the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday. Since February, when the most recent monetary policy report was released, progress toward strengthening the financial system continues to be made, according to Yellen. In her remarks, she stated “although the economy continues to improve, the recovery is not yet complete.” The Fed report predicts that new-home construction will rise again at some future point, and also noted that housing has shown little recent progress as high mortgage rates may discourage potential buyers.
