Details February 12, 2013 5:00-7:00PMShrove Tuesday MealOur UMW invites you to this fun, all-you-can-eat Pancake Supper from 5-7:00pm on the night preceding Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Shrove Tuesday comes from the word “shrive” which means “to confess,” the penitential nature of Lent. It has also been called Pancake Tuesday, Mardi Gras, and Fat Tuesday. On this day richer, fatty foods are eaten before the ritual fasting of Lent begins. Pancakes became the food of choice so the rich ingredients such as eggs, milk, and sugar could be used up before the start of Lent. | Add to my Outlook® Calendar |
