Announcing the New CSCA Second Vice President and Member at Large

Dear colleagues,

I write to announce the results of the 2016 Central States Communication Association election. Through a strong turnout at the polls, and with clear support for all candidates, the membership selected the next two officers of the organization.

First, please join me in congratulating Dr. Amy Aldridge Sanford of Texas A&M University Corpus Christi who has been elected to the position of Second Vice President. In addition to serving on the CSCA Executive Committee for four years, Dr. Sanford will also move through the presidential rotation. That means organizing pre-conferences for the 2017 convention in Minneapolis, serving as head program planner for the 2018 convention in Milwaukee, facilitating the undergraduate honors conference for the 2019 convention in Omaha, and then planning officer events for the 2020 convention. She will also preside over all business meetings the year she is President and develop initiatives she believes will be beneficial for the association. As that suggests, she will be doing a lot of important work for CSCA. Dr. Sanford's years of involvement with the organization and her many leadership roles have prepared her well. No doubt she will carry out these duties with excellence.

Second, please join me in congratulating Dr. Debra J. Ford of the University of Kansas Medical Center who has been elected to the position of Member at Large. The Member at Large represents the views of CSCA members at all business meetings, including regularly scheduled meetings at each CSCA convention and at the annual National Communication Association convention. As a member of the Executive Committee, the Member at Large will regularly be consulted throughout the year to advise the President, Executive Director, and other officers regarding decisions being made for the organization. Dr. Ford's demonstrated and continued commitment to CSCA ensures that she will serve well in the role, and her interdisciplinary background will no doubt allow fresh insights that will benefit the future of the association.

Both of the newly elected officers will begin their roles at the second business meeting at the 2016 CSCA convention in Grand Rapids, MI.

Finally, I extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who ran for a position in this year's election. Volunteering to serve the discipline through leadership roles is one of the most noble forms of service. It is through the efforts of our officers that CSCA continues to thrive, and I look forward to what Amy, Deb, and all of the many other officers, planners, committee members, and volunteer staff bring to the organization now and in the future. We are a fortunate association!

Very truly yours,

Jimmie
