CSCA Public Relations Interest Group

Over the past several years, the attendance at the Public Relations Interest Group business meeting at the annual convention has been small. As a reflection of this, at the present time, we do not have a complete slate of officers, as the vice chair position is unfilled. I must admit that when I was elected as vice chair two years ago, I was serving as editor of Communication Studies; and last year, I was unable to attend the convention. I must assume some of the responsibility for our current state of affairs.

Our current officers are:     Chairperson: Robert S. Littlefield, NDSU
                                           Vice Chairperson: vacant
                                           Secretary: Diana Tucker, Walden University

I am pleased to report that we received several panel proposals and papers for competitive selection to the upcoming convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I plan to attend and will be chairing the meeting. I hope you will also plan to attend and be part of the business meeting.

I am asking that you make the PR Interest Group a priority this year as you plan to attend the convention. We need a good turnout and a strong slate of officers in order to build up our interest group and save it from the cutting board. We don’t want to minimize this important area of research within the communication discipline.

I ask for your support and involvement. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in serving as an officer or being involved in helping to build up our interest group. My contact information is R.Littlefield@ndsu.edu.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
