CSCA - 2013 Conference Reminders - Intercultural IG

Hello Members of the CSCA Intercultural Interest Group!

Is it possible that September is half over already?  That means you have about two weeks to get together your paper and/or panel submissions for the 2013 Central States Communication Association annual conference to be held April 2-7, 1012 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The convention theme is “Communicating the Possible.”  This is a great fit for the Intercultural Interest Group.  Papers/panels may address problems and their ‘possible’ solutions, ‘possible’ areas for growth, ‘possible’ connections with other groups, ‘possible’ strategies for teaching intercultural courses, and most research projects test, report, and/or lead to ‘possibilities.’  Be creative.

We welcome a variety of research, including qualitative, critical, and quantitative approaches, as well as papers that apply, extend, or develop theoretical approaches. A variety of submission formats are also welcomed. The possible formats include, for example, panels, competitive paper panels, roundtable discussion panels, debates, spotlight sessions, performance sessions, video/visual presentation panels, and senior scholar roundtable panels.  Be creative in considering the “possible” submission formats.

Guidelines for Submission:

Papers must conform to the latest APA standards and need a detachable title page that allows the author's/s' identity/identities to be concealed. Papers should include a 100-word abstract. Remove all author references in the text of the paper. Indicate if the author(s) hold(s) a CSCA membership. Students submitting papers should write "Student" in the upper right-hand corner of the title page. Individuals who have never presented a paper at the CSCA convention should write "Debut" in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.

Panel proposals need a title, a brief abstract (150 words), name of person responsible for the program, as well as name, institutional affiliation, address, phone number, and email address of each panel participant. Indicate if participants are CSCA members.  Panel proposals must also complete the 2013 CSCA Panel Proposal Request Form available on the CSCA website (http://www.csca-net.org).

All submissions are to be sent electronically using MICROSOFT WORD.  Documents sent using any other format will be returned to the sender.  Requests for media are due at the same time as the call. All submissions must be received by submission deadline, October 5, 2011. Only complete papers and panel proposals will be considered. The program planner will confirm the receipt of your submission.

Send all submissions electronically, with email subject title "CSCA 2013 submission" to Stephanie Rollie at stephanie.rollie@tamucc.edu.

Awards: The Intercultural Communication Interest Group presents two awards with cash prizes: 1) top paper award and 2) top student paper award.
