CSCA Master Class: Sharing Interpersonal Communication Scholarship Via Publication
Facilitated by Dawn O. Braithwaite, University of Nebraska-Lincoln

One of the reasons we undertake our scholarship, besides the joy of learning, is to share our scholarship with our communities. For interpersonal communication scholars one way we do this is through publication of our work. For this master class, six junior faculty or student members who will be attending the CSCA convention in Kansas City will be chosen among applicants who have submitted completed studies they believe may have publication potential. The professor and master class participants will come together for two back to back sessions during the CSCA convention to discuss the publication process and best ways to prepare students’ papers for this process.

Submit: A completed empirical interpersonal communication study (any methodology acceptable) that the applicant believes might be a good candidate for publication. Please include a (a) title page and includes the students contact information (address, email, phone), and (b) a 250-word abstract of the study. Submit the papers electronically in Microsoft Word (no PDF).

Submit the papers to interest group chair Jimmie Manning (jman@niu.edu) no later than March 10, 2013.

Acceptances for the master class will be announced by March 15th. The master class meets from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 at the CSCA conference in Kansas City. This unique and exciting opportunity is co-sponsored by the Interpersonal and Small Group Communication Interest Group and the Graduate Caucus with panel slot support from CSCA Vice-President Chad Edwards. Questions? Contact Jimmie Manning at the email address above.
