Conference Technical Director Position

The Central States Communication Association (CSCA) is seeking its next Conference Technical Director to serve a three-year term, beginning July 1, 2014 until July 1, 2017.

The responsibilities include the following:

  1. Handling technical needs for presentations at the annual convention

A. Supervising conference worker volunteers
B. Checking presentation equipment in and out each morning and evening (equipment includes computer projectors, speakers, cords, etc.)
C. Assisting conference attendees who are having problems using equipment provided by CSCA

  1. Providing feedback to the Executive Committee about association technology needs
  2. Coordinating with the Executive Director to ensure that equipment arrives to the annual convention location

Although the Conference Technical Director will not be working during the entire convention, it is expected that she or he will attend every day of the convention including the Wednesday “pre-conference day” during the 2015, 2016, and 2017 conventions.

The position is one that is voluntary, but the person serving in the Conference Technical Director role will receive one complimentary room for each night of the conference. This room will be at the convention hotel, arranged by the Executive Director, and will accommodate up to four guests. The Conference Technical Director will also receive a discounted convention fee.

Individuals interested in the position should submit a brief (one paragraph) statement of interest describing past experience with the association, your abilities to assist others with basic conference presentation technologies, and your willingness to work with volunteers. A current CV should be included. CSCA is a professional, academic organization of primary and secondary school teachers, students, college and university professors, and communication professionals. CSCA was founded in 1931 to promote the communication discipline through educational, scholarly, and professional endeavors. The association consists of the 13 Midwestern states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, and is governed by a ten-member Executive Committee.
