Call for Papers and Panels

2015 Central States Communication Association (CSCA)
Annual Convention in Madison, Wisconsin
April 15-19, 2015

Convergence

The Intercultural Communication Interest Group invites submissions of competitive papers, panels, roundtable discussions, and innovative programming for the 2015 CSCA convention in Madison, Wisconsin. The purpose of the Intercultural Communication Interest Group is to promote the scholarship and practice of communication between, among, and within cultural groups. A range of topics encompassing cultural diversity, cross-cultural communication, intersectionality, social justice and transnationalism are welcome, and we especially encourage members to address issues related to the convention theme of Convergence. We welcome a variety of research, including qualitative, critical, and quantitative approaches, as well as papers that apply, extend or develop theoretical approaches. In terms of panels, preference will be given to those with panelists representing multiple institutions rather than representing a single institution.

Guidelines for Submission:

Papers: Only completed papers will be accepted. Papers must include a title and a brief 100-word abstract. The word “Student” should be marked on all papers written by student authors. Student authored papers do not include those co-authored with faculty members. Individuals who have never presented a paper at the CSCA convention should write “Debut” in the upper right-hand corner of the title page. Author names and any identifying information must be removed prior to submission. A Competitive Paper Submission Form must be submitted along with the paper. This form is located on the CSCA website: www.csca-net.org.

Panels: All Panel Proposals need a title, a brief abstract and rationale (150 words), name of person responsible for the program, as well as name, institutional affiliation, address, phone number, and e-mail address of each panel participant. Discussion panels and paper panels must be submitted using the respective forms located on the CSCA website: www.csca-net.org.

All submissions are to be sent electronically using MICROSOFT WORD.  Documents sent using any other format will be returned to the sender. Requests for technology/media for the presentation must be made at the time of submission. Please only request media if it is absolutely essential to your presentation, as media requests will be closely examined before approval. Laptop computers will not be made available for presentations. All submissions must be received by Friday, October 3, 2014.

Only complete papers and panel proposals will be considered. The program planner will confirm the receipt of your submission.

Send all submissions electronically, with the e-mail subject title “CSCA 2015 Submission” to Diana Trebing at dtrebing@svsu.edu.

Awards: The Intercultural Communication Interest Group presents two awards with cash prizes: 1) top paper award and 2) top student paper award.
