Online Community Manager

ROC USA, LLC

Imagine you own your house, but rent the land on which it sits. You’d worry every day about the rent going up, how well the landlord was caring for infrastructure that serves your house, and whether one day your rented land might be sold and turned into a high-rise condo or big box store — forcing you to move your home. That’s the reality for most people who live in manufactured home communities (aka mobile home parks), but at ROC USA, we think there’s a better way. That’s why our network has helped more than 170 such communities form cooperatives to purchase their neighborhoods. Now, more than 10,000 homeowners live in these in resident-owned communities, with stable costs and the security of knowing they’ll never have to leave unless they want to.

ROC USA is looking for an Online Community Manager who can take our fledgling online community center and turn it into the robust, indispensable resource we envisioned when we built it three years ago. myROCUSA.org, was launched to allow residents to network; learn through peer-to-peer advice and professionally developed interactive and static training materials; store and retrieve governing documents; and save money with a discount purchasing site. We’ve started, but managing the site has never been anyone’s primary focus and it’s time someone owned this project.

The successful Online Community Manager will be able to engage new users, drive existing users to the site on a regular basis, and turn the experience and expertise of our trainers into readily consumable material that users find appealing, informative and fun. This person will deftly integrate ROC USA’s social media outlets with the site and continuously help our low- and middle-income “clients” with resources, education, savings opportunities and even a little fun. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish.

ROC USA® is a national non-profit social enterprise whose mission is to make quality resident ownership viable nationwide and to expand economic opportunities for homeowners living in manufactured home communities. Since 2008, ROC USA has been building a brand for resident ownership, for manufactured housing as affordable homeownership, and for the value of cooperative and social enterprise. ROC USA makes a meaningful impact on the lives of the people who live in resident-owned communities. We’re a combination of save-the-world humanitarians and no-nonsense market-driven problem solvers. We’re a fun and growing team, and the Online Community Manager will have a significant impact on the meaningful work we’re doing. If we bought the communities we serve instead of helping the homeowners buy them, we’d be among the top 12 mobile home park owners in the country. Instead, we’re helping thousands of low- and middle-income people fully realize the American Dream of homeownership with all the benefits that go along with it. As a bonus, we do it from our riverside offices in Concord, N.H., an easy drive to the ocean, mountains, and bigger cities of Manchester and Boston.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and portfolio or other work samples to dwyman@rocusa.org.
