Lecturer in Communication Studies

The Department of Communication at Monmouth University (NJ), located on the beautiful Jersey Shore near New York City and Philadelphia, invites applications for a full-time lecturer position (non tenure-track) in Communication Studies, beginning August 2013. This position is a one-year initial appointment subject to subsequent multi-year reappointments without limit.The person in this position will teach four courses per semester in the Communication Studies concentration, whose broad, interdisciplinary focus on human communication compliments the department's other concentrations in Radio/TV and Journalism/Public Relations.

We seek a dynamic colleague who can expand and extend our diverse range of course offerings in interpersonal, organizational, intercultural, and business communication as well as rhetoric and persuasion and performance studies. Topical interests could include (but are not limited to) organizational communication and social change, leadership studies, service learning, critical/cultural media studies, etc.

The successful candidate will be committed to the value of a rigorous liberal arts education that focuses both on theory and practice, student-centered teaching and advising, and a spirit of collaboration in a large, multidisciplinary department. Applicants should demonstrate experience in diverse teaching methods, a developing research agenda, and the potential ability to teach a range of introductory and advanced courses. There may be opportunities to teach in our Master's program in Corporate and Public Communication. We strongly encourage diverse candidates to apply.
