ECA - Rhetoric & Public Address IG Members
Dear ECA R&PA members:
I hope you are all well, and that your semesters are finishing in a bearable fashion! We were so excited to have your help and support on a terrific slate of programs at ECA in Philadelphia a few weeks ago. Congrats to our award-winners and all of our scholars who presented, particularly our debut and undergraduate presenters. And special thanks to all of those who took time to serve the division by chairing, responding, and reviewing our manuscripts prior to the convention.
Speaking of reviewing, chairing, and responding, we wanted to begin recruiting volunteers for next year’s ECA conference in Baltimore. We had a low turnout at our business meeting in Philadelphia due to heavy scheduling during that slot, including one of our own panels!!! So we have a few volunteers so far, but it is a pretty incomplete list. Do me a favor and please send me an email at tbarney@richmond.edu to let me know whatever combination of reviewing, chairing, and responding you’d like to do for next year.
Let’s also welcome our new R&PA co-chairs for Baltimore, Jill Weber and Michael Tumolo. We are in excellent hands. So let’s give them a fantastic reviewer pool to work with.
Finally, our terrific new R&PA secretary, Giuliana Sorce, has compiled minutes from the meeting—they will be posted to our R&PA section on ECA’s site. We are trying to increase submissions next year and step up the creativity of our programming, so please contribute in any way that you can to that discussion.
