Call for Nominations - Centennial Scholars in Rhetoric & Public Address

Rhetoric & Public Address Bulletin

Call for Nominations
Centennial Scholars in Rhetoric & Public Address

Eastern Communication Association Centennial Meeting
Sheraton Society Hill, Philadelphia, PA, April 22-26, 2009

Nomination Deadline: October 10, 2008

It is time to nominate up to three Centennial Scholars in Rhetoric & Public Address for recognition at the 100th ECA meeting this April.

According to the ECA call for nominations, "A Centennial Scholar is someone who has made a significant and lasting impact on the discipline of communication, whose work has influenced other communication scholars, and who has (or had) a connection to the Eastern Communication Association."

Many of you suggested deserving scholars at the RPA business meeting in Pittsburgh.  I ask that you formally nominate those scholars in an email to me (mwb@albany.edu).  Please include a brief (paragraph) statement that explains why you believe that scholar should be recognized.

If our discussion in Pittsburgh is an indication, there should be a healthy variety of nominations and I expect we will need to vote.  After receiving the nominations I will prepare a ballot to help us decide what scholars the interest group will recognize.

The nominees will be recognized at the 2009 convention and in a special Rhetoric & Public Address session.

Please forward your nominations by Friday, October 10, so that we have time to circulate a ballot and prepare nominations before the November 1 deadline.

Michael Barberich (mwb@albany.edu, (518) 442-4877)
Chair
