Confluence is exemplified by the long tradition of communication research bringing together ideas from various perspectives of communicator, message, channel, and context to better understand how humans create meaning and relationships. Confluence also describes the best in our interdisciplinary scholarship.

Papers for the Graduate Poster Session will be accepted from every sub-discipline in the field of communication. Competitive poster presentations involve an author(s) standing next to a physical poster that visually explains the crux of the paper. Convention participants, including judges, read the posters and talk to the authors about their studies. If you have never presented at an academic conference, poster sessions are a less stressful foray into the academic community. You may want to consider making a handout that summarizes your study for people who talk to you during the session. Please note that the deadline for submissions is December 19th to allow for submitted projects completed in the Fall 2012 quarter or semester.

Submissions of completed posters should include several components:

  • A title page with the title of the poster and the author(s)’ affiliation, mailing addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses.
  • Mark “Debut” if the author has not presented previously at a regional or national convention.
  • A one page abstract on the second page.
  • A statement of professional responsibility on the second page, which states:

“In submitting the attached paper or proposal, I/We recognize that this submission is considered a professional responsibility. I/We agree to present this panel or paper if it is accepted and programmed. I/We further recognize that all who attend and present at ECA’s annual meeting must register and pay required fees.”

Send your complete submission to Katie Neary Dunleavy at dunleavy@lasalle.edu by December 19th, 2012 at 5PM EST. Please identify your submission with the subject line: ECA poster Submission.
