ECA 2013 Convention - Call for Papers - Theory and Methodology Interest Group

104th Annual ECA Convention

“Confluence”

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Omni William Penn Hotel

April 24-28, 3013

Submission Deadline: October 15, 2012

The Theory and Methodology Interest Group of the Eastern Communication Association, invites the submission of competitive papers, thematic program/panel proposals, and innovative programming alternatives (e.g., roundtables, symposia, debates, open forums, and community programs) for the 104th annual convention of the ECA.

The 2013 convention’s theme, “Confluence,” invites our discipline to reflect on the role of theory and method in our scholarship. Where do we see theoretical frameworks coming together to create new areas of research? How are we using advances in methodologies to integrate previous knowledge with new data? What streams of research can come together to point us in a new direction?

In keeping with this theme, we ask you to consider papers, thematic panels, and other programs that explore a confluence of communication ideas, practices, and behaviors, and their connection with or implications for the critical, methodological, research, and/or theoretical. General information about the 2013 Call for Papers can be found at http://www.ecasite.org/. Awards will be given for Top Three Papers. Graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to submit debut papers to the Theory and Methodology Interest Group.

Submissions to the Theory and Methodology Interest Group must adhere to the following guidelines.

In order to receive full consideration, completed papers and program/panel proposals must be received by October 15, 2012

Submissions must be sent via e-mail, with attachment(s) in MS Word format, to the 2013 Program Planner:
