ECA 2013 Convention - Call for Papers - American Society for the History of Rhetoric

American Society for the History of Rhetoric

104th Annual Eastern Communication Association Convention

“Confluence”

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Omni William Penn Hotel
April 24-28, 2013

Submission Deadline: October 15, 2012

The American Society for the History of Rhetoric invites the submission of competitive papers, panel proposals, and other presentation proposals (such as roundtables, symposia, or debates) for the 104th annual convention of the ECA.

The mission of the American Society for the History of Rhetoric is to promote scholarship and research concerning the history of rhetorical theory, rhetorical discourse, rhetorical criticism, and rhetorical instruction in writing and speaking.  We invite submissions dealing with any of these topics at any time or in any place.  From Confucius to Obama, from Aristotle to Foucault, we are interested in challenging and insightful work about the main channels or any of the many backwaters of the rhetorical tradition.  In keeping with the convention theme, we are particularly interested in submissions that deal with the intermixture of rhetorical traditions, be it the confluence of cultural speech traditions in this era of global communication, or the confluence of teaching or research traditions in the twenty first century academy.
