ECA 2014 Convention Updated Program

The ECA 2014 Convention Program is now available online and showcases what promises to be a fitting “lively experiment” in dialogue, collaboration, and participation. To our great delight, more than 750 scholars, teachers, graduate and undergraduate students will take part in 189 panels, roundtables, Short Courses and poster sessions; additionally, more than 30 panels address our conference theme, “Communities of Dissent,” in a direct and substantive fashion. I could not be more excited about what we have put together.

LinkToEvent[5,39] to update your ECA membership and to register for the convention. Consider taking advantage of the $90 Sponsor Membership, which combines a regular one-year membership with the conference fee. Register before the March 31st deadline and save $35!

The perks of early registration will just keep coming. You can also secure your seat on one of our two sponsored Friday night outings:

Baseball Game and Panel—It’s ECA night at the Ballpark! Join us Friday night as the Pawtucket Red Sox take on the Rochester Redwings. Tickets and transportation are $30 per person. Plenty of good seats are still available, so sign up when you register for ECA. Beforehand, catch the “Communication Theories and Baseball Stadia” panel at 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The bus to the Ballpark will depart the front of the hotel at 5:15 p.m.

Lizzy Borden took an axe. Or did she?- On Friday afternoon, join Annette Holba, author and former homicide detective, as she provides facts often left out or ignored by those who believe Lizzie to be guilty of the deaths of her father and step-mother. Following Annette’s 3:30 p.m. presentation at the conference, take the bus to the Lizzie Borden House in Fall River, MA. Registration is $30 for the event. The bus to the Lizzie Borden House will depart the front of the hotel at 5:15 p.m. The speculation is already heating up and the trip is half full, so reserve your spot today!

You’re going to love the downtown Omni Providence. It boasts terrific views, a central location, and a 100% ADA rating. The room rate for the convention is $165.00 plus tax for a single/double ($25.00 per extra person). The deadline to reserve a room at that rate is Monday, March 24, 2014. Be sure to mention you’re with the ECA Convention. You can learn more about the hotel at http://www.omnihotels.com/FindAHotel/Providence.aspx.

There is more information about Providence ECA 2014 that I will be sharing with you in the coming weeks. Our planners have put together an outstanding program and we will continue to work to create an excellent convention experience. I look forward to seeing you in Providence.
