APPLIED COMMUNICATION INTEREST GROUP
CALL FOR PAPERS
Eastern Communication Association
106h Annual Convention
Deliberation: Philadelphia
Sheraton Society Hill
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
April 22-26, 2015
Submission Deadline: October 15, 2014
The Applied Communication Interest Group invites submissions of papers and panel/program proposals that focus on how communication theory, research, and practice contribute to addressing pragmatic, social issues for ECA’s Annual Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Deliberation is where ideas are shared in groups then debated, advanced, molded, altered, and shaped into the foundation of our democracy. The convention theme, Deliberation: Philadelphia, seeks to address how carefully crafted ideas are put forth into public space for deliberative consideration. The Applied Communication Interest Group encourages submitters of papers and panel/program proposals to explore how individuals or organizations put forth ideas for constructive debate. Examples of broad topics for deliberation might include: teaching public speaking online, pedagogy, social media and privacy, issues of social justice, or health care. Note: explorations may overlap with concerns of other interest groups.
Papers and panel/program proposals must be submitted electronically by Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Please send all submissions via email to Annette Madlock Gatison at ECA2015_Applied@yahoo.com.
