Communication Quarterly, a scholarly, academic journal sponsored by the Eastern Communication (ECA) publishes refereed manuscripts extending the understanding of human communication. Communication Quarterly is philosophically committed to an eclectic approach and to the publication of high quality articles. Manuscripts considered for publication may be research reports, rhetorical studies, critical analyses, state of the art reviews, reports of topical interest, supported opinion papers, and other essays related to the interest groups of ECA and its affiliate organizations. Manuscripts may be philosophical, theoretical, methodological, critical, applied, pedagogical, or empirical in nature. While Communication Quarterly is supported by ECA, a regional communication association, it has a national and international readership. Hence, submissions from diverse geographic areas and cultures worldwide are encouraged.

A "blind review" process screens manuscripts. Although the Editor is ultimately responsible for the quality of the journal, each manuscript will be reviewed by at least three members of the Editorial Board, or other reviewers as the Editor deems appropriate. The recommendations of the reviewers provide the foundation for final judgments regarding the publication of manuscripts. The journal is dedicated to timely reviews. Authors can expect that the review process will normally be completed within three months following the date of receipt by the Editor.

Submission of Full-Length Manuscripts.

An electronic copy of the manuscript should be submitted by email to the Editor. The author(s) should also retain a copy. Electronic copies will not be returned. Manuscripts will also be accepted by mail. Please include a copy on an IBM-compatible disk formatted in either Word for Windows or WordPerfect for Windows. The manuscript must be the original work of the author(s), and may not have been previously published or currently under consideration by any other journal or publisher (including on-line). Manuscripts should typically not exceed 30 double-spaced typed 8.5  x 11 inch pages including tables, notes, and references, and must be accompanied by an abstract of 100 words or less and a list of relevant key concepts. Figures should be camera-ready. Author(s) should prepare a separate file consisting of the title page with the author(s) name, highest degree and where and when earned, professional title, current institutional or other affiliation, mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and electronic mail address. Submitted manuscripts must conform to the style and documentation (including electronic citations) requirement of the 5th edition or higher of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Note: All material in the text and references, including statistical notations, that APA recommends be underlined must be in italics.) Research on the use of human participants should be conducted in compliance with all regulations of the Department of Health and Human Services, including voluntary participation, informed consent, deception, and debriefing. Fully developed manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor-Elect of Communication Quarterly.
