Quality Improvement Leader (Oncology Services)

Hospital Seeking a Quality Improvement Leader (Oncology Services)

This position will lead the Oncology Service Line (OSL) implementation of quality improvement activities through the development, oversight and coordination of detailed work plans and gap analysis of various internal constituents and external agencies. This position assists with the analyses, review trends/research and develops new and more efficient approaches to care of the oncology patient population and to maximize impact on operational efficiency, incentive reimbursement and population health.  

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate complex theoretical and technical concepts effectively with a wide variety of individuals. 
  2. Advanced analytical and computer skills in order to manage project work and data. 
  3. Advanced analytical skills necessary to develop sound recommendations and assist in implementing improved delivery of care systems, policies and procedures, evaluating clinical practice outcomes and developing educational programs. 
  4. Ability to work with and lead multidisciplinary teams in initiatives to facilitate implementation and measurement activities. 
  5. Ability to integrate information across myriad settings with the goal of standardization (when appropriate), simplification, and reduction of non-value-added work and steps.
  6. Knowledge of oncology patient population. 
  7. Knowledge of project management. 
  8. Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions or understand other information needed. 
  9. Ability to clearly communicate in written and oral situations.
  10. Independent decision-making skills
  11. Skills needed in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, peers, medical staff and the public.
  12.  Ability to lead productive committees and meetings.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  1. Current registered Nurse with a current Michigan license.
  2. BSN and master's degree in nursing or a health related degree; or baccalaureate and MSN.
  3. Three to five years of quality improvement background with preference given to clinical experience in oncology.
