Medicare Releases Proposals for New Payment System for Physicians

On April 26, 2016, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the detailed proposals that would determine the implementation of an updated pay-for-performance system for physicians in Medicare.  Since legislation passed creating this new system one year ago, ASH has released reviews of the two paths available for physicians, the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) or participation in Alternative Payment Models. 

ASH, ASCO, and ACCC are all reviewing and will issue more detail and guidance soon.
