Make Sure You're Aware of the Newly Effective MOC Changes Instituted by ABIM

As of January 2014, ABIM requires board certified specialists (including those “grandfathered” into oncology) to engage more frequently in MOC activities—in an effort to increase the relevancy of the credential by aligning with other physician reporting requirements. New standards include:

  • 100 MOC points required every 5 years

  • Some MOC activity required every 2 years

  • MOC to include Patient Safety and Patient Survey components
