Help the Reshoring Initiative Usher in the New Year by Refining the Reshoring Database!

In April 2014, Harry Moser of the Reshoring Initiative spoke to NAHAD members at the 30th Annual Convention in Phoenix, AZ. Reshoring is a hot topic in supply chain and manufacturing circles. The forces driving reshoring include: rising Chinese wage rates, the differential in domestic sources of power vs. international sources, and increasing recognition of the many advantages of producing near the customer. As of early 2014, approximately 80,000 manufacturing jobs have been reshored by about 250 OEMs and thousands of their suppliers since the manufacturing employment low water mark of 2010.

Early this year, the Reshoring Initiative will be publishing large portions of their data on manufacturing returning to North America, providing more accurate insights to the breadth and progress of the reshoring trend. They are asking for NAHAD members’ help in refining their database, which contains all companies, including OEM’s and suppliers, reported as having reshored, kept from offshoring, or foreign direct invested (FDI: foreign companies investing in the U.S.) These are broadly defined at the linked site: TheReshoringInitiativeBlog:MASTERLISTOFRESHOREDCOMPANIES.

If your company has brought to North America any work, products, components, tools, etc., please check this list and update the data on your company or direct the Initiative to someone who could do so. Or, if your company is not listed, find out more here about how to add your information to the database.
