NAM Opposes EPA's Attempts to Overregulate Shale Gas

The NAM recently submitted comments to the EPA on its proposed rule on diesel use in the hydraulic fracturing process.

The NAM expressed disappointment that the EPA sought to apply federal rules to hydraulic fracturing permits.

Manufacturers believe this is unnecessary, as states currently regulate these activities, and Congress expressly stated in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 that the EPA should not regulate this activity. The NAM recommended that the EPA withdraw the draft guidance and defer to the states’ expertise.
