Manufacturers Battle EPA on Burdensome Air Quality Regulations

Earlier this summer, the EPA continued to push its aggressive regulatory agenda when it proposed to lower the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for particulate matter.

This harmful rule has the potential to put many communities in a “non-attainment zone” that severely restricts economic growth. Lowering the standards would result in overbearing regulations of existing facilities while restricting new permit requirements for development of new facilities. New facilities won’t be built unless others are shut down to meet the EPA’s standards.

With a stalling economy, more burdensome regulations are a step in the wrong direction. The NAM will submit comments on this harmful regulation on Friday.
