NAHAD Members Stake Claim in Las Vegas

NAHAD's 28th Annual Meeting & Convention, scheduled for April 18-22, 2012, will mark the first time that NAHAD has held a convention in Las Vegas, Nevada; but it will not be the first time that many member companies have done business in the "Entertainment Capital of the World."

Trends in entertainment go way beyond just singing and dancing. These days, entertainment may involve hydraulics - a subject near and dear to many NAHAD members.

Two prominent Las Vegas shows recently got a lesson in safe hydraulics: Le Reve at the Wynn Las Vegas and Cirque Du Soleil's "O" at the Bellagio. Behind the scenes, these elaborate semi-aquatic stage performances require lots of hydraulics. Each show has a full-time staff of nearly 10 maintenance people, and above all else, the show must go on.

When the maintenance folks began having problems with blow-offs on their competitive hydraulic hoses, they called on NAHAD Member company, Gates, for assistance. This past December, Ryan Linke, Gates District Sales Manager, took them through the Gates Safe Hydraulics program. In addition to basic safety procedures, the attendees learned something about preventing blow-offs with Gates Full-Torque Nut couplings and minimizing the effects of abrasion with Gates MegaTuff covers.
