NAM Supports Manufacturing Day 2014 on October 3

Nam Manufacturing Day 2014The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is pleased to once again support Manufacturing Day 2014 on Friday, October 3. They need the participation and support of manufacturer partners like you for this event to be a success!

Manufacturing Day provides manufacturers a unique opportunity to expand the knowledge about the great benefits of a career in manufacturing and demonstrate our industry’s value to the U.S. economy. Companies can also use this dayto educate their communities on the services and goods they manufacture. Whether through a plant tour for community partners or an open meeting with your company’s leadership and elected officials, Manufacturing Day is a great way for you to increase public awareness of the manufacturing industry.

Senators Send Letter Requesting Listing Of Federal Programs For Manufacturers.

IndustryWeek (8/21) reports that seven senators sent a letter to the Government Accountability Office asking it “to analyze federal manufacturing policies and provide recommendations for improvement.” The letter notes that there is no comprehensive list of agencies or catalog of programs to specifically address manufacturers or their workers due to the diversity of the industry. The letter requests a full listing of federal programs and incentives as well as lists of cost, impact, and effectiveness. The letter was led by Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) and is signed by Sens. Roy Blunt (R-MO), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Brian Schatz, (D-HI) Mark Kirk (R-IL), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
