Welcome to NAHAD
In an effort to give back, NAHAD launched a new initiative to support a cause connected to the hose industry: clean water. Working with charity: water, a nonprofit organization that brings clean water to millions worldwide, NAHAD has committed to raising $10,000 to sponsor a water project in a developing country. Join with us today and help us reach our goal.

May 2016 marked the 14th consecutive month of negative year-over-year sales growth due to continued headwinds from oil & gas, heavy equipment verticals, and slow project activity. The lack of improvement against easier year-ago comparisons and sharp drop in backlogs suggests this protracted downturn is now likely to carry into the 2nd half of the year. We continue to believe the pace of a recovery will be tepid at best and are cognizant of the potential for additional headwinds from consumer facing verticals (auto, food & beverage, life sciences)
- Adjusted for selling days, average sales declined ~6% in May following a ~2% decline in April. The softer results came against a 200bps easier comparison.
- Orders declined 3% on average in May following a 4% decline in April with a net 12% seeing lower orders sequentially from April to May. Notably, backlogs fell sharply in May with a net 33% of participants reporting weaker backlogs in May vs. April.
- The 2016 outlook was revised lower to down 4% on average from down 2% last month. The revised outlook implies sales down ~3% on average over the remaining seven months of the year following down ~5% over the first five months.
The stunning Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs was the setting for NAHAD's 2016 Convention on April 30 through May 4, which attracted nearly 1,000 members and guests from around the world for four days of education, networking, business development and recreation. The largest ever Showcase of Hose Solutions exhibit program, with 170 booths, displayed the latest products and services from nearly 150 suppliers.
NAHAD's 33rd Annual Convention will be held at the J W Marriott Hill Country Resort in San Antonio on April 2 through 6, 2017.
NAHAD has joined the Energy Equipment and Infrastructure Alliance (EEIA). EEIA is a broad coalition of associations and companies that represents the energy supply chain in advocating for laws and regulations that encourage increased production of crude oil and natural gas from shale. Shale energy production, together with all of the midstream and downstream operations that are driven by it, have become a major market for many NAHAD members.
The shale energy supply chain is made up of sixty different industries, including over 120,000 companies, that together account for over $170 billion of annual sales, and have over 600,000 people employed to serve energy-related customers. Bringing that huge economic force together as a unified political voice has proven effective in moving pro-development energy policy to the front burner in Washington. EEIA’s power in energy debates stems from the fact that the supply chain operates in all fifty states, and not just in the energy producing areas. This helps politicians from non-producing areas of the country understand that supporting energy production helps the economies and workers of their own districts.
