Assistant News Director



WLOS/WMYA in beautiful Asheville, NC (DMA 37) is looking for a dynamic leader to be our next Assistant News Director. The Assistant News Director will oversee daily operations and maintain content quality standards across all platforms. Duties include guiding daily news coverage and story content, including editorial script approval. You will directly oversee Reporters, including hiring, training and evaluation. You will also work with the News Director to create and oversee strategic plans and special projects, including community projects, election coverage and other special events. The winning candidate will demonstrate a superior understanding of targeted coverage, storytelling, promotion, multi-media journalism, investigative reporting, and videography.

Required Skills Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results on initiatives. Great people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating

Required Experience Four-year degree in Journalism or Communications. Successful candidate will have had at least 5-7 years of experience in broadcast journalism.
