If you can produce dynamic special projects with a proven track record of delivering ratings results and want to take the next great step in your career, while living in the mountains of Western North Carolina, the WLOS Special Projects Producer position may be for you. We need a leader who knows how to dig for a story, produce it with an edge and use strong storytelling and TV production to make it impactful and memorable. Knowledge of the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) process, computer-assisted reporting, data-driven reporting and legal issues related to investigative television news reporting are required. Successful candidate must have proven track record of digging beyond the surface, asking tough questions and questioning the answers. The successful candidate will have a natural curiosity to dig into the how and why of issues. We need someone who understands how to tell stories on twitter, facebook, mobile, web as well as TV. The right candidate needs to help producers craft compelling, engaging and interactive newscasts. We need a leader who is a tremendous writer and storyteller with high journalism and ethical standards. We need passion, positivity and proven results. Experience: •Identifying and developing daily investigative content. •Develop and maintain contacts and sources to enterprise story ideas. •Identify and develop longer term investigative stories that drive ratings. •Produce content for multiple platforms. •Knowledge of the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) process, computer-assisted reporting, data-driven reporting and legal issues related to investigative television news reporting are required. I.R.E. membership a plus. •Maintain an active social media presence to connect with the community. •Meet deadlines •Work with managers on sweeps strategy •Coordinate story production, keeping contributors on deadline •Produce special programs, including Town Hall Meetings •Effectively vet all stories for legal, ethical, brand, style and tone •At least 5 years experience producing or reporting. •A 4 year degree in journalism, radio or television or related field preferred.
