WNCN, Media General's NBC affiliate in Raleigh, NC is looking for a smart, dynamic storyteller to anchor our weekend evening newscasts and report throughout the week. The qualified candidate will be adept at enterprise reporting and have experience handling breaking news from the anchor desk and in the field. We want a smart community champion.
Essential Job Qualifications: Formal education equivalent to a BS degree in Journalism, Communications or related field. Related experience will be evaluated by Company management and may be substituted on the basis of one year of experience equals one year of education. Minimum four years experience in local television news, including writing, producing, reporting and anchoring. Tape required. Reporting skills mandatory. Knowledge of journalistic standards as they relate to on-air presentation of news stories and web reporting. Accurate and comprehensive writing skills as well as good communication skills. Ability to maintain professional and personal appearance. Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn new systems. Capable of handling the physical and mental requirements including: • ability to verbally communicate in English • ability to read computer monitor information (words and data) • ability to hear detailed spoken communication • ability to remain sedentary and to travel to work location • ability to perform manual dexterity tasks with hands, fingers • ability to analyze data, concentrate, reason, and write • ability to perform under emotional stress • availability for shift reporting and station promotional activity; 24 hour on-call availability
