WCNC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Charlotte, NC, has an exciting opportunity available within our Technology team for a Broadcast Maintenance Technician with strong IT skills! Our Technology team is ingrained in all facets of the station from transmitter overhauls to IT systems implementations and troubleshooting to facility maintenance. We’re about providing excellent customer service to our users with a solutions oriented attitude. Traditional Broadcast Engineers need not apply.

Responsibilities:

Support a variety of television-centric hardware/software including master control station automation, newsroom production systems, Production Control automation, News room database systems such as ENPS, non-linear-editing, etc. Support the IT helpdesk which includes the support of all desktop systems, related peripherals and other IT related duties as assigned (i.e. assist with server systems, run and terminate Ethernet cables, phone systems adds/removes/changes, etc.).
Maintain and/or troubleshoot television transmitter.
Operate and/or troubleshoot remote microwave and video circuits including high speed backhaul paths.
Operate and/or troubleshoot ENG equipment from cameras, to ENG vehicles, to cellular news gathering backpacks.

Requirements:

Degree in computer science, broadcast engineering or related field or appropriate job experience.

Experience with newsroom IT systems.

Demonstrated knowledge of Crispin, ENPS, Edius, Adobe, BitCentral, AutoScript, Vertigo, Sony ELC, and all things MOS.

Demonstrated knowledge Windows, Apple, IOS, Cisco and Enterprise level IT applications and
systems.

Strong attention to detail.

Solid troubleshooting skills, good communications skills, and a strong mechanical aptitude.

Experience with Harris UHF transmitters a plus.

Project management skills preferable.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, work on ladders and stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
