WCNC-TV, the NBC affiliate, in Charlotte, NC is looking for a creative, engaging and enterprising Anchor/Reporter to join our news team. Our Anchor/Reporters have a passion for people, are community-oriented and understand they can make a difference every single day. The successful candidate is a true team player and newsroom leader, willing to do whatever it takes to get the latest and best story and impactful information to our community. You must love where our business is headed and must be aggressive at participating on all platforms: TV, online, mobile and social media. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Shoot, write and edit stories.
  • Gather,investigate, and write news stories for on-air broadcast delivery.
  • Generating unique, compelling and innovative story/show ideas and content.
  • Develop contacts and relationships in the community.
  • Present on-air news events in a concise and accurate manner.
  • Interview news subjects and research for facts and credibility.
  • Develop news sources for general assignment and special areas of interest.
  • Write and post daily stories on wcnc.com and other WCNC-TV social media platforms.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Journalism and/or Mass Communication. 
  • Minimum 3-5 years news anchor/reporting experience. 
  • Demonstrate the tenants of professional Journalism. 
  • Deliver accurate content and reports. 
  • Excellent on-camera communicator with top notch interviewing, live and taped, reporting skills. 
  • Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills. 
  • Demonstrated use of social media for news gathering, disseminating and community engagement. 
  • A keen eye for creative production as well as editing video. 
  • Reel must be included for consideration.
