WLOS-TV, the Sinclair-owned ABC affiliate in Asheville, NC, has an opening for an Assistant Chief Photojournalist.

Experience:
WLOS/WMYA is a storytelling and advocacy-driven NPPA shop and the runner-up the past two years for the NPPA’s Medium Market Station of the Year. The ideal candidate will have at least five years experience shooting, editing and live truck operation in a daily, strict deadline television news operation.
Requirements:

Duties include assisting the Chief Photojournalist/News Operations Manager in the supervision and development of a staff of thirteen photojournalists and three news video editors and:

-Recruiting and evaluating candidates for openings.

-Serving as the primary photojournalist for investigative and special projects, and overseeing other photojournalists assigned in those areas.

-Maintenance and management of Avid media, and working with the engineering staff and Media Managers to troubleshoot areas of concern with Avid.

-Working with other news managers to supervise reporters and photojournalists to ensure strong elements of advocacy journalism and effective storytelling on broadcast, mobile and digital platforms.

-Assisting the Chief Photojournalist/News Operations Manager in training the staff in the use of Live U, ENG, DSNG and emerging technologies.

-Coordinating and compiling awards entries for the news department.
