Description

BROADCAST AND EMERGING MEDIA MANAGER (ADVANCED) (Temporary) - UNC-TV, RTP, NC seeks a producer and content coordinator to work on the QUEST Beyond Local Project, which is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. QUEST is an award-winning multimedia science and environment series created by KQED in San Francisco. QUEST Beyond Local expands the QUEST project to content being produced by five other public media stations, including UNC-TV. 
The producer and content coordinator, which is a temporary appointment, will oversee and manage UNC-TV’s QUEST Beyond Local work and produce assigned content for the project. The position will be responsible for organizing, tracking and delivering UNC-TV’s content to the QUEST central office and to the QUEST Beyond Local web site in an efficient and timely manner. This position will work with UNC-TV staff members and community partners to develop and distribute content and educational resources, and will perform other duties as assigned. 

The producer will work 40 hours per week from project launch in early 2013 until May 30, 2014. Hourly rate: $18 - $28, based on experience. No benefits.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalency and four years of progressive experience in the specialized area(s) in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment, of which one is supervisory; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from journalism or media-related university degree program, three years television reporting/producing experience, experience delivering content via the web, ability to use Final Cut Pro editing system and to shoot video on Sony XD HD camera. Interest in science and environmental journalism desired, as well as ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with QUEST Beyond Local cross platform content teams from five other partner stations. Experience managing complex projects and producing broadcast and web content is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication, planning and organizational skills, solid writing and editing abilities. The candidate must be able to collaborate and work with a variety of internal departments and external partners.
