Position Broadcast Producer for National Programming
Description

North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is hiring a full-time producer to join the staff of its daily radio show The Story with Dick Gordon. A successful candidate will help WUNC bring a fresh sound to public radio and creative ways to grow our audience.

The Broadcast Producer will select and research show topics, pre-interview and book guests, write scripts, cut interviews and create original content for the web/social media. They will also fill in as Senior Producer, Director and Managing Editor on occasion. S/he will also produce special programming for fundraising and participate in station events as required. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), preferably in journalism or related field, a minimum of 5 years experience in journalism or broadcast programming and a demonstrated skill in researching topics for news and interview broadcasts. The ideal candidate will possess experience working in public radio news and producing their own on-air radio work.

The Story with Dick Gordon (based in Chapel Hill) is produced by WUNC, distributed by APM and heard by an estimated 750,000 listeners on more than 100 stations nationwide. The show brings compelling voices to public radio through first-person interviews.
