News Producer

North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC-FM, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking a News Producer for its broadcast of Morning Edition.

 

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in journalism (or related field) with three years of experience as a working journalist. Candidates must have strong writing, reporting, and production skills and considerable knowledge of radio broadcasting equipment. Candidates should also have a demonstrated ability to work quickly and meet tight deadlines, working with materials from a variety of sources and collaborators.


The News Producer works with the Morning Edition Host to produce all locally generated news content for WUNC’s broadcast of Morning Edition. The work schedule for this position is 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM Monday to Friday with some occasional shifts on holidays or weekends. The News Producer also reports stories and serves as an on-air host and newscaster as assigned. Experience with public radio fundraising is preferred.
