Congratulations to 1290 WHKY Radio on its 75th Anniversary!

It was on this day, June 10, 1940 that WHKY signed on the air for the first time.

Today they celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the oldest independently owned Radio Station in North Carolina -  and possibly the Nation. 

The Station is owned by Long Communications, LLC and signed on by Ed Long.

Ed continues to air with his son Tom Long, Sr. and two grandsons Jeff Long and Tom Long, Jr. in charge.
