Programs for members and non-members

1. Volunteer Involvement 

    1. AARP Volunteer Career Counseling - State Career ( Fair) Expo’s for 50+ job seekers at several locations in OH
    2. TV Channel 6 in Columbus OH –Job Boot Camp –to assist job seekers with resumes, etc.

    3. Worthington OH Libraries – Job Help Days –in Sept. for resume work and job seeking skills

  1. Outreach –

    1. OCDA President talked with several state Career Professional Organizations – attempting to get all Career Development Professionals from K-16 together. State funded org. are floundering –how can we support others? Share ideas?

      1. Aug. 3rd – Prof. Development Day - 45 min. presentation for K-12 career people in Columbus; sponsored by OCIS and ODE -overall emphasis on developing a statewide career development network and bridging the gap between secondary and post secondary educators

    2. Donated $250 to OH Counseling Association for scholarships for “Legislative Advocacy Day “ at the State House in April

  2. State Conference – Offer CEU’s for licensed counselors and a variety of credentials

    1. 2010- Dick Knowdell “The Changing Dynamics of Career Counseling” – big name speaker –brought 106 attendees, low cost for the day inc. breakfast, lunch & networking opp. at lunch

  3. NCD Month – presented last several years at the All-Ohio Counselors Conference in Nov. Columbus OH (may host a networking reception this year)

    1. Increased visibility for Career Counselors and Career Professionals – not many offerings for the Career people at a counseling conferences

    2. 2008- Career Counseling Techniques for School/Community Counselors

    3. 2009- Credentialing of Career Professionals

    4. 2010 –Exploring Career Development Best Practices from Middle School through College Years: A panel of experts from all levels –let’s share! (pending approval)

  4. Member Benefits - (200 members and growing!)

    1. CareerWell Tele-interviews – paid for subscription for members to view career professionals online (interactive) available several ties per month

    2. LinkedIn OCDA site established for networking for members-only

    3. Monthly email updates –various topics

    4. Quarterly on-line newsletters –feature NCDA articles reprinted, etc….

    5. OCDA website http://www.ocdaonline.org/

    6. Government Relations updates emailed to all members (National and State)
