INMATE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM TRAINING

1:00 - 5:00 pm

As part of the Bureau of Prisons' overall re-entry initiative, termed the Inmate Skills Development Initiative, an automated assessment tool (Inmate Skills Development System), was developed to integrate and streamline information and processes to better determine the skill needs of the offender population in preparation for return to our communities. This tool was recently implemented at all Bureau institutions. A review of the implementation and overview of next steps in the Inmate Skills Development Initiative will be explored. Emphasis will focus on developing program linkages and resources to address the needs identified in the assessment tool. This session is mandatory for Bureau of Prisons staff attending the Conference and seating will be reserved. Staff from Probation and Pretrial Services, as well as Residential Reentry Centers, are strongly encouraged to attend to discuss the integration with their operations. Others are welcome as space permits.
