CPI Minnesota! NCDA Career Practitioner Institute, October 3, 2014

By Mary Ann Powell

All are welcome to join us in Minneapolis for “Practical Techniques and Strategies for Career Development Practitioners.” This one day event, October 3, 2014, also offers the option of a pre-conference Professional Development Institute (PDI) on October 2, 2014.

What is a Career Practitioner Institute?

NCDA offers these smaller, regional conferences for the purpose of

  • gathering practitioners together for a day-long event at a low cost

  • allowing NCDA Board members and representatives opportunities to present to and interact with smaller groups of practitioners

  • showcasing NCDA products and benefits to both members and non-members

  • offering CE (continuing education hours) to practitioners

  • convening NCDA Board meetings.

Who Should Attend?

All are welcome to attend! Practitioners in the field of career services, in a variety of work settings, would benefit from this institute. Because it is a one-day event (with the option of 2 days), this is a great professional development opportunity for career practitioners in the region to attend.

What Does the Conference Offer?

The Keynote Speaker kicks off the conference at 8:30 am, followed by two sets of presentations (with three choices of sessions each). After the complimentary luncheon (lots of networking here), two additional presentation series are offered. There will be three sessions per series from which to choose. The Closing General Session will cap the afternoon  concluding around 4:15 pm. Two PDI's will be offered on October 2, 2014. (These optional sessions are offered at an additional cost). Once again the conference will be offering an APP for your device. Stay tuned on the conference website for details on downloading this helpful event management tool.

Does the Conference Offer Continuing Education Hours (CE)?

Yes. The CPI offers 5.5 hours of Continuing Education for attending Friday, October 3. An additional 8 hours can be earned by attending both Professional Development Institutes on Thursday, October 2.
