CHS Member Co-op CHS Member Co-op has an exciting opportunity for a Grain Originator position in Northwestern Ohio.

Position Overview:

CHS is looking for a Grain Originator. The successful candidate will work closely with the grain division to build and grow market share in our local trade territory along with helping farmers get the most out of their grain. The Grain Originator is also expected to find, educate and consult with producers about agricultural products with the objective of developing and meeting volume/margin objectives. The ideal person will have strong knowledge of trading activities of various commodities and grain logistics.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist the grain division on the origination and merchandising of commodities.

• Manage operations and logistics costs and work with grain division to maximize efficiencies.

• Fully understand, analyze and recommend risk management strategies and assist with the development of marketing plans for producers.

• Provide hedging opportunities for producers through a partnership with a qualified brokerage firm.

• Develop a client base through on-farm visits, meetings, presentations and referrals. Build relationships with farmers that will last long-term.

• Have the ability to explain agricultural markets, local basis, commodity trading and the concepts behind marketing to coop customers.

• Prepare grain/inventory reports, grain purchase contracts and complete other relevant paperwork efficiently and accurately.

• Make cold calls in country, office phone calls and assist with customer walk in business.

• The grain originator will uphold cooperative policies, comply with OHSA regulations, follow all safety and compliance guidelines and perform other duties as assigned by management. Basic

Qualifications:

• 4 year degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Ag Econ, Ag Business, Ag Ed, Ag engineering, Soil or Weed Science. (3-5 years related job experience may substitute for education)

• Must be able to work extended hours during harvest season

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

• Previous Grain handling experience

• Previous experience in logistics and marketing

• Strong people/interpersonal communication skills and ability to build relationships Additional
