Coop Overview:
CHS is partnering with a mid-sized progressive member cooperative in Northwestern Ohio to find an experienced agronomy salesperson to join the team at a successful branch.
Position Overview:
This position is for an experienced Sales Agronomist who has strong skills in crop scouting, precision agriculture methods and crop protection products. This person must have a strong skillset including building customer relationships and a drive to exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
• Promote the proper use of crop protection products, seed and precision agriculture to customers to grow market share.
• Create and recommend specific agronomy programs based off of yield results, crop scouting and seed knowledge to customers.
• Spend a majority of time in the country working with farmers to earn business.
• Understand the business functions of employee team and assist the team in improving the efficiency and profitability of the location(s) assigned.
• Coordinate with fertilizer applicators and tanks on the spreading, spraying and delivery of bulk fertilizer to assure the cost effective use of equipment.
• Assure that federal and state regulations pertaining to chemicals and fertilizers are observed and adhered to.
Basic Qualifications:
• 4 year degree in Agronomy, Ag Econ, Ag Business, Ag Ed, Ag engineering, Soil or Weed Science. (Related job experience may substitute for education.)
• Minimum of three years’ experience in Agronomy, seed, crop protection products and VRT
• Demonstrate strong communication / persuasive / business skills
• Strong work ethic
• Proven self-starter with the ability to form fast and strong business relationships
• 3-5 years additional experience in the following areas:
- Agronomy/seed experience
- Scouting/intern experience
- Plant worker experience
- Agricultural background
