Dairy Feed - Sales and Service Rep

CHS Member Cooperative Overview:

CHS is working with a member cooperative in Northwestern Ohio for a highly motivated, sales-driven, hands-on Dairy Feed – Sales and Service Rep to be a part of their successful feed department.

Position Overview:

The primary focus would be direct sales of feed to dairy producers. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience working with dairy and a feed and nutrition background. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are skills essential for the success in this role.

Position Responsibilities:

• Evaluate current customer nutrition programs and develop marketing plans and programs to meet customer needs while growing the cooperative business.

• Do farm calls with producers and evaluate dairy herd health and nutritional needs.

• Collaborate with distribution, operations, technical staff and credit to heighten the visibility and impact of sales calls.

• Identify needs and provide consultative services for businesses and customers by combining established relationships with product, marketing and technical skills.

• Service customer complaints and inquiries.

• Manage and complete special projects for the local co-op and customers.

• Develop knowledge of multiple feed products and apply this knowledge in all aspects of the job.

Basic Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in marketing, business, animal science, agriculture or a veterinary related field related program or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 5+ years.

• 1-2 years outside sales experience to include: product presentations, sales negotiations, preparing bids & proposals and closing the sale

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in working with livestock or in retail feed sales environments, such as a feed or farm supply stores is a plus

• Experience developing marketing plans, calculating margins, and profit.

• Mechanical understanding of equipment
