Assistant General Manager - Grain, Feed, & Hardware

CHS Aligned Solutions is recruiting for an Assistant General Manager position for a small member cooperative located in central Ohio near Marion. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone with prior merchandising experience interested in leading a team.

About the company:

This cooperative is customer-service focused and primary business unit is Grain. Feed and hardware are also components, however, this role will focus 70% of the time in Grain. Total storage is around 2M bushels. With satisfactory performance, this position is designed to transfer into the General Manager role in the spring of 2016 upon the retirement of the current General Manager.

Primary responsibilities:

The Assistant General Manager's responsibilities involve supervision, marketing, grain merchandising, reporting, inventory control, service and dispatching, safety and maintenance personnel, and other duties as assigned by the General Manager. This is an operational position and will include some operation duties as needed.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Supervision involves establishing and communicating department goals and results to employees, staffing the department and delegating the workload, actively supporting employee growth, and upholding cooperative policies

• Staff and delegate workload to meet market requirements

• Update employees regularly on new product knowledge

• Identify in writing annual training needed for individual employees

• Ensure that facilities and equipment meet all federal, state, and OSHA regulations

• Make safety the priority, including informing employees and customer’s safety policies and maintaining the property, facilities and equipment

• Assist in developing and updating a regular maintenance schedule for all facilities and equipment and that they run in satisfactory condition

• Develop an annual marketing plan and direct marketing activities

• Establish and achieve product profitability, sales goals timely delivery

Basic Qualifications:

• 4 year degree in an Agriculture related program (5+ years’ work experience can substitute education)

• 5 years industry experience to include managing staff, operational experience, and grain marketing

• Have experience working with large grain storage facilities, at least 1 million grain storage experience
