Staff Accountant

Ohio Farm Bureau Federation - Columbus, Ohio

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine and maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability or other financial activities for Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, Ohio Farm Bureau Development Corporation, other contractual companies and County Farm Bureaus.

Primary Duties:

  1. Prepare, exam and analyze accounting records, financial statements and other reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  2. Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations to project future revenues and expense or to provide advice.
  3. Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
  4. Develop, implement, modify and document record keeping and accounting systems making use of current computer technology (Navision, Quickbooks and iMIS)
  5. Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  6. Assist with annual audits for all companies with outside firm.
  7. Work with county Farm Bureaus on self audits and provide training and support on accounting software and processes.
  8. Able to learn iMIS database and administer member/prospect data maintenance program, including membership processing via website and lock box payments.
  9. Reconcile membership payments including Medical Mutual and Worker’s Compensation, prepare and classify all entries into records for cash disbursements, cash receipts, billing and journal entries for Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.

Additional Duties:

Other assignments as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS

-  At least seven (7) years experience in accounting/auditing/tax preparation.

-  Excellent analytical and financial skills.

-  High aptitude in various computer software systems.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Certified Public Accountant

- Master Degree in related field
