OABA Takes Part in D.C. Legislative Fly-In

OABA representatives discuss critical agribusiness topics with national legislators

Ohio AgriBusiness Association President and CEO Chris Henney joined other state and national organizations in Washington, D.C. for the 2015 State Agribusiness D.C. Fly-In. The fly-in is hosted annually by national partners, including the Agricultural Retailers Association, Biotechnology Industry Organization, CropLife America and The Fertilizer Institute.

Henney was joined by two OABA board members: David Barrett, managing partner of Barrett, Easterday, Cunningham & Eselgroth, LLP and Doug Busdeker, area general manager of The Andersons, Inc. The group met with Ohio Congressmen Bob Gibbs, Steve Stivers, Bob Latta, Bill Johnson, Dave Joyce and Jim Jordan, and Reps. Marcia Fudge and John Boehner’s staff members.

During the visits, the group shared several key issues impacting Ohio agribusinesses. Among other topics, conversations focused on the Safe Accurate Food Labeling Act (H.R. 1599), railroad transportation, biotechnology and water quality.

“It is important for OABA to share our members’ interests with our legislators and their staff in Congress,” said Henney. “By traveling to Washington, we show them our commitment to these vital issues.”
